"Conquering the Hill is more than just the true story of Western Hills High School's dramatic last-minute victory over the Elder Panthers in their fiftieth and final Thanksgiving Day Classic in 1978. It also chronicles the founding of two high schools in Cincinnati's working-class West Side neighborhood just blocks apart in the 1920s. It details the natural competition of public and private institutions that spawned 'The Super Bowl of Price Hill' (Western Hills Press) and 'The city's top rivalry' (John Fay, Cincinnati Enquirer). Compiled from interviews with over forty personalities, including Cincinnati icon Donald 'Buddy' LaRosa, as well as from exhaustive research of the historical archive, the author recounts the neglect, heartbreak, and drama of a twenty-year exodus culminating in the events of November 23, 1978"--
